Have you thought about Hypnotherapy for alcohol in Perth? The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare states “The consumption of alcohol is widespread within Australia and entwined with many social and cultural activities. However, harmful levels of consumption are a major health issue, associated with increased risk of chronic disease, injury and premature death.”
Let’s have a look at some sobering facts, also from The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare:
# 1 in 4 (26%) people have consumed alcohol at levels placing them at risk of harm on a single occasion, at least monthly
# 1 in 6 (17%) people consume alcohol at levels placing them at lifetime risk of an alcohol-related disease or injury
# 1 in 7 (15%) people have consumed 11 or more standard drinks at least once in the last 12 months
# 35% of substance treatment episodes in 2017–18 were primarily for alcohol, making it the most commonly treated substance in Australia
Not a very pretty picture when viewed in black and white facts, is it?
We have seen all the advertising campaigns, and sports sponsorship to get us to rethink our alcohol consumption, but is the message really getting through? Looking at the below statistic from The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, it may just be, for the younger generation at least:
82% of 12 to 17-year-olds reported abstaining from alcohol in 2016—a significant increase from 72% in 2013.
It seems though that the same message may not be getting through to the older generations, particularly the 18 to 24-year-old age group.
Alcohol issues, or even excessive consumption, are not necessarily what we may think. It is not just the middle-aged or older guy who always gets drunk on the weekend, getting into fights, upsetting others and generally just making a fool of himself.
It’s the lady who just has to have a glass of wine or 2 while cooking dinner every night. It’s the professional businessman who doesn’t really drink much or at all generally but will go on a bender or a binge every now and then. It’s the young couples that write themselves off every weekend. It’s the little old granny that will have a few sherries then drive home. You get the point, don’t you?
